A message from the Head Teacher

I hope you find this website of interest. It is part of our growing policy to provide on-line information and learning resources to students, staff and parents.

The school has had a very difficult few years following the devastating fire in March 2006. We are currently coming towards the end of a major re-building programme with a complete new school due to open in September 2008. The school used the insurance refund and was allowed early access to the national Building Schools for the Future scheme to create a modern, spacious, attractive and high-tech school.

The school has contracted in size in recent years but is due to expand again from September 2008 when larger cohorts of students have indicated their intentions to come to Sinfin Community School. Further ahead there are well-developed plans to build over 350 new homes in the neighbourhood which will further swell the school and is likely to lead to a building extension.

The GCSE results are also due to improve dramatically this year following two disappointing years in the aftermath of the fire and the consequent disruption to students’ learning. This will be a testament to the resilience and hard work of large numbers of students, teachers and support staff.

Whatever the future holds I am very confident that the values that the school holds will continue to flourish and our determination to ensure that all students become confident learners, ready to take their place in the wider community, will lead to further successes in various academic, sporting, artistic and cultural areas.
